Create a custom-made suit!

Hello girls!

In the first article of the blog I wanted to start from the foundation, from the first bricks that we need to put in order to understand the creation of a complete, made-to-measure project that reflects yourself to the fullest! So I want to talk to you about how custom-made wedding dresses are made, explaining one by one the steps my atelier goes through to make the dress of your dreams.

But first I wanted to answer one of the questions that many people ask me....

Why opt to have a custom-made suit made?

Choosing to create a custom-made dress, even though it is a process that takes longer than choosing a pre-made dress, has several points in its favor. First is the unique experience of being pampered by the expert hands of seamstresses and embroiderers working to create something that only you will have the chance to wear, second is the chance to see your own idea take shape in this way. Another point not to be overlooked is that of being able to bring to life a garment that fully reflects your tastes and the style of your wedding. Indeed, by choosing this option you will be able to decide, accompanied by a specialist, the type of dress that best conforms to your body shape, the colors that will make you stand out the most and the style that suits you best. Not to mention the possibility of choosing the best fabrics for the creation of your dream and being able to choose the embroidery and details to add to the garment giving life to something unique that will reflect you and your love story the most. Another point not to be overlooked is the advantage of being able to create the perfect accessories to enhance your look, creating them taking into account the most suitable shapes and materials, creating an eye-catching and unique outfit that will come out directly of your dreams. Moral of the story, whether it is a wedding dress, an evening gown or ceremony dress or whether we are talking about a day dress, these are the motivations that should push us to make this kind of choice!

When to contact the atelier?

The best timing would be 9 to 12 months in advance for a wedding dress, a little earlier if you have in mind a dress with elaborate embroidery, a little less if you want a dress with minimalist taste. Timelines for an evening or formal gown can range from 3 to 5 months and for a day dress from 1 to 2 months. My advice to you in any case is to contact the atelier as soon as possible if you are undecided about the appropriate timing, so that you can get advice on the correct timing to adopt.

What are the steps to create a custom-made wedding dress?

  1. MEET ME: The first appointment (free of charge) will last 1h in which, in a quiet environment, we will have the opportunity to talk together, I will explain my working method and you will have the opportunity to show me your project (preferably with inspirational images). Together we will create several sketches from which, at the end of the hour, we will extrapolate the final sketch. If interested, we will also talk about the embroidery that will be sketched quickly and the accessories that will complete the look.

  2. WE TAKE MEASUREMENTS: If convinced by the final sketch, it will lead to the second appointment, which is the first face-to-face meeting, in which we will review the sketch, discuss the fabrics together, choose the most suitable embroidery from the samples made for the occasion, and take your measurements so that we can begin the work in the atelier.

  3. TRIAL AND CHANGE OF THE CANVAS: The third meeting will take place about a month after the second one and will be the time when you will have the opportunity to try on the canvas of the desired dress, on which all the necessary changes will be made to make it perfectly fit your body and your dream.

  4. TRIALS: We will then determine together, also according to the type of project, how many times it will be appropriate to meet so that we can try on the dress and make appropriate changes together to create the garment. As we get closer to delivery the dress will be more and more defined until the final details are chosen.

  5. FINAL LOOK TRIAL: Once the dress and accessories are completed we will proceed with the final fitting. There you will have a chance to see the final result complete with dress and accessories. On that occasion, you will have the chance to be able to take home with you the dress of your dreams, handmade with love.

These are the steps and timelines for creating a wedding dress, I decided to take this kind of dress as an example because it is usually the one that takes the longest creation time and the most meetings. Each of these steps will be carried out for the creation of any kind of custom-made dress, the only things that will change are the numbers of meetings and the creation time.
